November 2 nd 2020 - 12:00

The CERATIZIT Challenge by La Vuelta 20 will kick-off on November 6th with an unprecedented start from the province of Toledo. The race, one of the most important in the UCI Women's WorldTour calendar, will consist of three stages for the first time since the event was born in 2015.

A hilly first stage will see the peloton race from Toledo to Escalona with 82.8 km of racing entirely set in the province of Toledo. The riders will then face two stages the fans are already familiar with. First, they'll tackle a 9.3km individual time-trial in Boadilla del Monte. And on November 8th, the fastest wheels will chase success in the streets of Madrid with 17 laps to be covered through the main avenues of the Spanish capital city, adding up to 98.6km.

The general manager of La Vuelta, Javier Guillén, expressed his satisfaction to see the famous women's race grow with another stage: "It's very important for us to keep developing a project that we believe to be full of opportunities". He also said "it is absolutely essential to claim our vocation to support women's cycling" and he underlined that "it's precisely why we turned to this project, to try to push it forward despite the difficulties generated by the health crisis".

"These three days of racing will place women's cycling at the forefront, which will help an entire community feel that they are participating in an event in continuous growth, and which will contribute to the recovery of our normality and strengthen our morale as a country”, highlights the president of the High Council for Sports, Irene Lozano. In addition, she emphasised the “effort made by Unipublic, its undisputed endorsement for Spanish cycling, the Royal Spanish Cycling Federation, and the partners who have shown a great capacity for adaptation and resilience that will allow this competition to happen with all the safety guarantees that these times require”.

The three days will add up to a total of 190.7 km of racing, making the CERATIZIT Challenge by La Vuelta 20 an unprecedented and special race.
